John Hegarty

I lecture in psychology at Keele University, UK (www.keele.ac.uk/depts/ps)where I teach ecopsychology on the undergraduate psychology and the postgraduate counselling psychology courses. I've had a long involvement with services for people with intellectual disabilities and am currently fascinated by the potential for green care. I recently collaborated with the Shropshire Wildlife Trust and Telford and District ME/CFS Group on a study of art therapy and wildlife gardening for people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and my current research is on the psychology of nature-connectedness, especially in relation to community land ownership (in collaboration with Fordhall Community Land Initiative in North Shropshire, UK (www.fordhallfarm.com). In my spare time I help out on our family farm which happens to be the site of a medieval battle (www.bloreheath.org).
